Why can't I sleep?

There are so many reasons for insomnia, it is a major sign of an imbalance somewhere in the body, or in diet or lifestyle. 

On the most basic level there is simple sleep hygiene - the rules we all know about sleeping in a cool dark quiet room, no screens, no caffeine after 12, taking time to slow down before bed, keeping to a routine. 

Once these are all ticked off and sleep still eludes us, we have to do a deeper dive. 

There may be nutritional deficiencies or issues to do with diet and nutrition.

There may be hormonal or neurotransmitter imbalances.

There could be underlying stress, anxiety, depression. 

As Benjamin Brown said, sleep is not just a night time issue, we have to find the root causes of insomnia in a much more holistic approach.
